The members of Crosstown are committed to furthering their musical skills and take part in many educational events throughout the year. The February Frolic will be an exciting educational experience with the incomparable Betty Clipman!

Director Betty’s experience in Sweet Adelines International spans over 40 years and covers all aspects of the organization.  She is committed to continuous musical growth through better educational opportunities.  Her vision is to musically educate women of all ages, enabling them to experience the joy of singing four-part harmony a capella through improved vocal and performance skills.

Her proudest achievements include:

International President, Sweet Adelines International, 1991-1993

Education Direction Committee Chair, Sweet Adelines Board of Directors

Judge Specialists Moderator

Certified Judge in the categories of Sound and Expression

“Master Faculty” Member (one of only four in the world), S.A. International Faculty

Twenty-six years experience as a Sweet Adelines Chorus Director which includes:

  • Master Director, Houston Horizon Chorus, Houston, TX (1989-2001).  This chorus consistently placed in the top 10 in International Chorus Competitions.
  • Director, Vienna Falls Chorus, Vienna Falls, Virginia where she directed from 1983-1989.  In 1988 they were the International Chorus Champions.

First woman to direct a men’s chorus in an international men’s chorus competition (SPEBSQSA)

Member of the 1980 International Quartet Champions, the Penna-Fores

Served at the Regional level as:

  • President of the Regional Executive Committee
  • Director of Musical Activities

Lifetime Achievement Award Winner recipient, 2000

Internationally-renowned vocal coach of quartets and choruses worldwide

Betty is currently entering an exciting phase of her career as, for the first time, she develops and organizes a brand new chorus.  The Woodlands Show Chorus, under the direction of Betty Clipman, is poised for greatness as they prepare to entertain and thrill audiences in The Woodlands and surrounding communities.  Betty hopes to foster relationships with the community not only as an entertainer but as an educator as well.
